About us

Our company was established in 2000 as J&T Plumbing by James and Tania Vinson. Our mission is to be the number one plumbing services provider in the Bay of Plenty.

We have always had a vision to establish a business that is transparent in its culture, inspired by friendliness, trustworthiness and reliability. We work to provide environmentally safe and sound solutions in plumbing, drainage, solar and gas. JT Plumbing services Tauranga, Papamoa, Mt Maunganui and throughout the Bay of Plenty.

We consciously work to minimise our impact on the environment, preserving it for future generations. You might have seen our mascot JT the blue duck on our website or our vans. To us, he’s more than a cute rubber duck. He’s inspired by our native blue duck, the Whio. The Whio is endangered, with less than 3000 across the country and we care about conserving this national treasure for future generations.

At JT Plumbing and Drainage we believe a champion team always beats a team of champions. In saying that, our team not only works enthusiastically together, but are each highly capable plumbers and drainlayers in their own right. Between us all, the years of plumbing experience adds up to a phenomenal amount that equals an unprecedented quality experience for you.

Our highly experienced team of Tauranga plumbers have encountered most plumbing, drainage and solar situations before. Whether you are building a new home, facing a complex plumbing task, or just have a blocked drain or leaky tap, we can help. Our team is focused on doing it right the first time and ensuring satisfaction and happiness for our customers in Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and Papamoa.

TANIA VINSON - Owner & Director

“Hi, I’m the T in JT Plumbing and Drainage. I love people, and nothing makes me more excited than meeting new people and learning about them. This comes from having a background in Nursing and Complimentary Health Care.”

“When James and I met over 20 years ago in Africa, who knew we would be spearheading a company focusing on being the best in the bay. Family is important to us and we have 2 kids, we enjoy supporting and encouraging them both in all their sports and other endeavours.”

JAMES VINSON - Owner & Director

“So, that leaves me, the J in JT Plumbing and Drainage. If you can’t find me in the office, I will likely be out on the job connecting in with our team, making sure they are doing an amazing job. Otherwise I will be out on the water fishing, or hunting in our beautiful remote back country.”

“Tania and I are both focused on moving into the future, continuing to be supported by our amazing team of people.”

Jamie Pitt JT Plumbing

JAMIE PITT - Operations Manager

“I’m the Operations Manager at JT Plumbing, so that makes me responsible for the day to day management and allocation of our technicians to plumbing projects. I also manage the relationships we have with our suppliers. A really important part of my role is to ensure the quality of our work and the health and safety of our team. I have 44 years of experience in plumbing and drainage as a licenced plumber. This means I play a key role in ensuring our team are always up to date with the latest skills and training so we can deliver the best outcome every time.

“Outside work I’m dedicated to my family – I’m married with four children – and I’ve been a keen sportsman throughout my life. I’m passionate about rugby, so during the season you’ll find me at the park watching my son play, or following the fortunes of Te Puna Rugby, the Bay of Plenty Steamers or the Hurricanes.”

TREVOR IREMONGER - Maintenance Manager

“As the dedicated Plumbing Maintenance Manager at JT Plumbing it’s my job to oversee our residential plumbing jobs, alongside new house builds and renovations. I work closely with Lynda to ensure maintenance jobs are scheduled efficiently and our team have everything they need to do the job right first time. I’ve been in the plumbing trade for 45 years – four years at JT Plumbing and 32 years running my own plumbing business in Cambridge before moving to the Bay of Plenty. I really enjoy solving problems for our customers and mentoring the apprentices by passing on the knowledge I’ve gathered over the years.”

Lynda McDonald Office Manager

LYNDA MCDONALD - Office Manager

“Being the Office Manager is a busy role that means I have to deal with multiple tasks and juggle priorities to get the job done. I’m the initial point of contact with our customers when they need a plumber, drainlayer or gas fitter. I’ve worked in plumbing administration for 10 years so I’m used to the pressure that comes with the role – I enjoy having to think on my feet and work with the team to solve problems.”

“I’m interested in health, so leading a healthy lifestyle is important to me. I love travelling and enjoying the gifts of living in Tauranga.”

Paul McDonald Pricing Manager

PAUL MCDONALD - Pricing Manager

“My role is about ensuring customers have complete confidence that JT Plumbing can deliver projects of any size and complexity. I work with the team to scope and price our projects. So on a day to day basis, I am involved in residential projects, project management, tendering, negotiations and business development. It’s satisfying when I see a job through to completion, and I get to have some fun along the way.”

“Work life balance is important to me, so time on the waves and muscle cars are always in the mix for weekends and summer evenings.”
